He was in his mother’s womb when he first went to see a cricket match on the field.
Sachivalaya gymkhana was the club for which his father used to play, then one of the biggest clubs in Bombay.
As he started growing up his father started seeing potential in him of being like him.. a boy who would one day go and make his father proud by playing cricket for the state.
But as he grew things started getting different and difficult!
It was not as easy to get into a state team as it was few years back.
The stage was different the competition was much higher than what it used to be.
As he got older and got into his own senses, his father told him how important it was for him if he goes on to play for the state.
It would be one of the proudest days that his father could ever see.
Since then he started to give his 100% on whatever he did on the field.
But the load of his father’s expectations, and his needs did not go well hand in hand.
He failed miserably in trying to fulfill his father’s dreams.
After schooling he got into the most well known college for cricket giving up his wish of becoming an engineer.
And to his disappointment was not even selected in the squad.
He had the talent, technique & temperament but was using it in a wrong way.
Just as the right time was about to come he decided to give up on his father’s dreams and promised himself that he will keep playing cricket but not to play for the anyone but for himself.
He knew that he had the same blood running in his body that his father had, so he made sure of using his technique and talent in the right way.
Joined the least promising college in sports and promised himself that one day will make sure of winning against the same team who did not give him the opportunity to explore his talent.
To his fortune, that college used to practice on the same ground where he had first seen a cricket match and his father play from his mothers womb.
His dream was fulfilled..
He became a better cricketer over the years… realized how important it was for him to enjoy the cricket rather than playing with a load in back of his head.
One day he even reached a step below playing for the state… was called in the probable’s for the state team selection.
That was the day he had a word with his father telling him how much he loves playing cricket the way he wants to and not to show the world what he can do.
He became a popular name in the cricketing circuit. He got the respect which his father was looking for.
His talent was recognized, started playing for one of the biggest gymkhana in the city. And still does.
He scores runs at regular intervals, in good matches and against good players.
The only thing different is now he plays for himself and not for anyone else.
And is successfully living his fathers dream.
